For as long as she can remember Excalibur had lived with the knowledge that she would never belong anywhere. She hadn't fit in in California and she didn't fit in at the camp. She would bet anyone she wouldn't fit into Russia either. She knew that everyone had something that could prevent them from fitting in, but they had other qualities that made up for it. Excalibur may have a face like her mother's and hair bleached blonde, but she was not much like the woman who raised her. Children of Hades were not meant to belong on the earth or even above it. That was why Cali had decided years ago not to try anymore. Why bother fit in when it was so easy for her to stand out?
She was better then most. It was a fact. Yes, she was sad and cold, but she never pretended to be something she was not. She found the flaws in other's quickly. Pride, greed, and lust... But those were basic. Everyone has a fatal flaw, she knew what hers was. Vengeance. What really annoyed her was when people were false. When they knew that they were not perfect but pretended to be. Excalibur was always honest with and about herself. How others wanted to view her was their choice.
Camp was a place she didn't fit in and while it didn't bother her to be different, it bothered her that she had no place of her own. The Apollo kids had the Archery range, Demeter's had the strawberry fields, etc. She didn't want any of those things, but it just showed that her talents were not a solid thing one could place. Sometimes she would go to the climbing wall and watch the newbies. It was always good for some comic relief. She would laugh and comment for an hour or so. She didn't feel like that currently though. Excalibur made her way to the amphitheatre. It was usually quiet at this time of the day.
Excalibur sat on one of the stone ledges, her dog Oliver by her side. He was a lot like her so they made a good pair. He was tolerant of most things. He loved to play like any young dog did, but if she simply sat he would follow. He was not a fan of most people but was never nasty unless she allowed him to be. Oli was obedient. A good dog.
Cali sat thinking quietly, the place was big but empty. She touched the silver and sapphire pendant that hung on her neck. A gift from her father that gave her more control of herself and her abilities. It meant something more however, she knew it. Only, she couldn't figure it out. Her sister had had one like it, only with a ruby. Her sister...Emmeline. Cali was either alone or with her brother. Rarely anyone else. But if her sister had not been killed then Cali new she would be sitting here with her. Cali wondered what it was like, being a child of Hades eternally stuck in the Underworld. Was she in the fields? No, Cali knew her sister was in Eyslium. Maybe even the Isle of the Blest. Her sister had died a hero and would be treated as one in the afterlife.
A time ago Cali would have shed a tear thinking of Emmeline, but not anymore. There was no point in crying. It would do nothing for her, and it would show a sign of weakness. She could not be weak. Excalibur trained hard, it was the only thing she had to do after all. Maybe she would later today. For now she was content to sit and enjoy the silence. Oh how she loved the silence.

The fair haired girl was positive that she had a fever of sorts. Everything seemed cold to her, icy even. She felt frigid outside of her blankets, but in them was like a sweathouse. Water came out from her pores at an attempt to cool her body, and her face became positively flushed, as red as the tips of a flame. On top of these symptoms, she had a headache, pulsing through her temples. It was all she could do to raise her head or move it, because she was sure to have this much pain in the head, a little creature had to be in her head, going into war with the sides of her skull and scratching at her temples. And with all Oliva had learned in the past few months, it wouldn't surprise her if something had. After all, if the fabled and mythical Olympian Gods and Goddesses exsisted, and so did all the monsters that came with it, then it would not bring Oliva any feeling of surprise or fear, because it would be something else she would need to jot down in her mental notes section of her brain. Which didn't seem to be working at the current moment due to the waves of pain overthrowing her thoughts. The mortal sat up in the cabin, she had been staying in Hera's every once in awhile, paying tribute to her favorite Goddess. Oliva had heard about a demi-god who had been selected by the Goddess herself to be her preistess and sleep in her cabin some nights. She had not met the girl, but she respected her choice all the same, and when she could not stay in Hera's cabin, she did, like a silent elf in a fairy tale. It made her feel important. She was told she was important by the camp's runner, Mr.D (whom she was nearly positive was a God), Chiron (another mythical creature she had been fond of and nearly fainted upon the discover of his exsistance), and many others. But she didn't think forseeing the death's and scirmishes and evils of the demi-gods was very helpful at all. But making Hera feel respected did. Olivia let out a small cough that echoed off the walls of the cold cabin, which led to a bout of coughing. She tightened her blanket around her and groaned, rolling over on the bed. This would mean she needed to get to an infirmery or something, get help with this. Only thing was, she still didn't know the camp besides the cabins and the lake and big house. She would have to go ask for help. So, the moral sat up and shuffled to the door, the blanket trailing behind her. She wandered blindly for awhile, eyes closed, praying to a God, some God, any God, for with the pain she couldn't remember which one was the holder of healing... She stumbled past the beach and stables, the blanket kicking up dust and a breeze that felt absolutely freezing on her fevered skin. She saw no campers out. Oliva had been told campers would be missing because they went home for the school year, unlike she. Finally, she found a girl, sitting in front of a gray-blue fire. A sad look crossed the girl's face and Olivia's heart broke. For a moment she forgot her own pain and walked to the girl. What could've made her so sad? She was all alone here, looking like an outsider, which was how Olivia felt most of the time since she wasn't a demi-god and didn't need training or anything. She sought to comfort the demi-god.
"Excuse me, miss," she whispered in her girly-voice. Olivia found she was unable to speak above a whisper, "I couldn't help but notice your despair. Are you alright?"
