[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px;] van myles hayne van . sixteen . male . homosexual . demigod child of hades, god of the underworld appearance: Who could possibly be so modest that he would not even explain himself to someone out of fear that he might seem snobby? ...Definitely not Van. He wouldn't even have time to care about describing himself to someone. It would be easy, in fact, if he did. He would tell you to 'can't your open your eyes and look at me? Last I checked, you could manage to manufacture them things. Perhaps I should call a doctor for you?'. But if one were to look at him, it would be easy to describe him as a brunette with very deep, dark eyes and very much underweight. All of that, in fact, is true. Van Hayne inherited nothing from his true father aside from a small build when he was younger - and now, even. Other then that, everything else is his mother's. Whether it be his eyes, his ears or even the simplicity of the measurement of his legs. He represented his mother exactly how she had been back when she had been younger, except he was, well, a male. Though, as a child of Hades, he comes with a lot of strength that he could unlock, but refuses to go near even with the key in his open palm. So all he inherits from his father, rather than the powers of a child of Hades should have, is slender arms, legs, and a sly build. He looks too much like a child, sometimes. If he actually slept rather than staying up all night playing with his pet raven, then he would not have deep, dark circles under deep, dark eyes. Eyes that, despite the lack of any other color aside from black, managed to capture someone and hold their gaze locked. Eyes that would never betray him and show what he's truly feeling, because he even did so back when he was younger. Emotionless eyes, facial expressions... only back way when, he did not know that body positions could show off his true emotions. Moonlight that comes streaming down on any other regular, dark night is what one would have to use to compare the paleness of his skin. He's so pale that it is not even funny. Vampires would most definitely have a thing with him. He looks almost albino, with his creamy white skin. Though, he has no red eyes, and his family tree does not have one albino in it. His skin is almost flawless, smooth and free of any blemishes. Though, the problem with his skin is that his skin his sensitive, and he cannot stay out in light for long without a chance of being sunburn. Like a child of Hades would stay outside for that long, anyways. Pink, soft lips are not really much of what he cares about, so no chapped-stick for him. Neither is his nose, gently curved and about the right size for his face. Ears are also not a problem, hidden behind wild brown hair that could not be trained with even hairspray. Even with a slightly wild kind of hair, he still manages to look nice with it, even with it spiking out in random directions. He is not tall, and most definitely not built. Standing at only five foot eight ( and a half? ), he feels shorter than most of the boys his age, but, yet, that never stopped him from being popular among the girls. And some short boys only weigh a little bit... wasn't that right? Only one hundred pounds, Van is a sickening thin that he covers up with semi-decent clothing ( mostly consisting of chb shirts, and he was lucky to get some hand-me-down pants from a man he one knew ). Though, he is only underweight for a reason, and even now, after having been through some of the worst conditions, he does not eat much. With a calm, composed manner, he will lurk by the shadows on the days that he does not go to school, watching life go on around him at camp. He is practically a shadow, never in one spot for a long time. He'll try and wear dark clothes, though bright orange shirts never help with that, and run-down sneakers are a main necessity until he finds the money to buy a new pair. face claim: aaron carter ...just imagine him with brown hair... and dark eyes. xD personality: Secrets are a very important thing. No one does not have secrets. One could be very loud and outgoing, but they would still have a secret. It would be unnatural to not have a secret... Secrets are what make up Van's life. You know those guys that you may sit next to in school, and they are so mysterious? The kind of guys that all the girls are attracted to because he's just that mysterious, just that secretive. Because of that, a lot of people - mostly men - grew to envy him, getting all of the girls' attention, while a lot of other people wanted to be his friend because he was the coolest boy in the class. He might not have wanted people to think he was the coolest guy, but a lot of people sure acted like it. Even still, he does not talk much. He only talks when needed. 'Speak when spoken to' he was forced to live by. But, even then, he would not talk to the one who is speaking to him without - specifically - a good reason. And yet there are just some times where he'll talk because he's bored and has got nothing to do. It all just depends on the mood he is in. His fake smiles look much too like his real ones - because he's had plenty practice. He could smile and try to hide the real emotion he's feeling, and it would take a trained eye to realize that he's faking. He was taught and told by multiple people to not trust anyone but himself, and yet multiple times he has disobeyed that rule and trusted people. It only led to his downfall, which is why it is rare for him to actually trust one. He can make friends easily - for it comes naturally to him -, but he cannot trust then until he gets to know them. Teamwork? What is teamwork? To Van, teamwork and just the help of others will be his ultimate downfall. It does not mean he won't work as a team, he just does not believe it will help him in the least. He knows and admits freely that he is not strongest, and will accept help when it comes to working things that he is weak at. Basically, he can be selfish, quiet and secretive most of the time, but he is truthful, not scared to speak his mind ( with what little he says ) and rather different. likes: practising Taekwondo watching people from afar winter the dead silence of night swimming dancing ( though, will only do it when he's drunk ) dislikes: ignorant people socializing people in plain general crowds cursing rock music hunting the living dead strengths: close-hand combat ( Taekwondo? ) finding one's weaknesses running weaknesses: everyone close to him almost always tired heights the 'living' dead fears: falling from a tall building not being able to make great enough sacrifices to save the ones he 'loves' being unable to make that someone proud literally, the living dead fatal flaw: he once risked his life trying to defend one he loved - and it nearly cost him his life. he would do that again for the same person and for others who are close to him. weapons: several throwing daggers that are concealed within the outfit he is wearing that day magical items: an earing that allows him to view one's personal weaknesses. hometown: Levittown, Pennsylvania parent: Rose Smith sibling(s): Emmett Smith ( blood-brothers, step-brothers ) other: Koi Hayne ( a boy he befriended on a lonely street in Philadelphia ), Justin Smith ( step-father ) pet(s): a raven named, ironically, Raven. history: What is Hades like? He's different. Absolutely devoted to win over the love - or, at least, the full love - of his forcefully wedded wife, Persephone, and yet one could find him having a 'human' affair with, you guessed it, a human. It was mostly female, though, that he had the affairs with. Did homosexuality disgust Hades? Because it disgusted Rose Smith. Rose Smith was a lovely woman. She cared and loved everyone, and treated everyone nicely. Except homosexuals. She was completely against that sexuality, as well as bisexuality, and others that she would rather not think of or have mentioned. This will play a very important part in Van's life. Hades and Rose met somewhere - it is unsure of Van, whether they met at a bar or the woods or maybe even the desert! -, and, yes, they had a one-night stand. Rose, already with a man, felt disgusted by herself. But she had been unable to help it, you see, because Hades was like a knight on a white horse... well, maybe a knight in a black Chevrolet. So it wasn't painstakingly obvious that when she turned up pregnant, it was because she had been with another man who failed to use... well... protection. Even if Van looked not one bit like his step-father, Justin, the step-father still loved him like his own child. In fact, he did love him like his own child. Justin's own child, named Emmett, also lived with Rose and Van. At that time, Van was known as Van Smith. He never knew that he would have to go by a different persona - or, at least, a different last name - in a couple years. Though, however, at a decent age of ten and eleven years, both Emmett and Van made a pact: always help each other out. Both were young and unknowing of how many diseases could be passed through a simple gesture like this, but they both pricked their fingers and exchanged blood, therefore making them 'blood brothers'. It was not a stupid mistake, because neither caught any disease. Though this, also, would be another important time in Van's sixteen year-long life. Van grew up in school to be that quiet and mysterious type. He never really spoke that much because he didn't want to speak much. He could be very social when he wanted to be, and he had a rather fine sense of humor. He just found that friends were what made someone weak. He was determined to stay 'high up' above the rest. Because while other boys had the hots for girls in his class, Van found himself not attracted to females, which he thought was a good thing. ...At least until he then found himself attracted towards makes of the same gender. Van still acted the same; quiet, mysterious, and the 'coolest boy' in his grade for his trademark behavior. However, he already had one huge secret weighing down his shoulders at the age of fourteen; he was homosexual. At the age of fourteen, he told his blood-brother Emmett how it was quietly. Emmett told his father. Guess who told Emily Smith, the lovely woman who was deeply homophobic? She truly loved her son. Van was her first child that she actually gave birth to. He had truly been the greatest son she could ever had wished for that was her's. That had her brown hair, her black, black eyes, and had that small build that was not really her's but resembled her when he would place a hand on his hip and glare. So, she kicked him out. Disowned him. He was no longer Van Smith. He was just Van for now. Not even Emmett, the brother who had made a promise to help him, was keen on helping him. And so he didn't. Van was on his own, without a last name or a place to go, on the lonely streets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It wasn't particularly lonely. A place such as 'Philly' could not be lonely. There were people on it all the time. However, with people 'all the time', there were also bad people. Van met Koi Hayne, a teen at the age of seventeen who took pity on the roughed up Van and helped him out. Neither wanted to go into an orphanage, so they stayed on the 'lonely' streets. Fifteen years and he was doing quite well. He learned Taekwondo from Koi, but he was still last-nameless. He didn't care, though. He would never go by Smith again, even of a new family with that last name would adopt him. Fifteen years and monsters found their way to the child of one of the big three. Van would not remember it well. He had tried to push his near-death experience to the back of his mind. He had been practicing with Koi down a dark alleyway when a man had turned down it with a plastic bag in his hand. The man had looked nice indeed, and he looked homeless too, which was why Van had not been expecting a knife to be unsheathed from beneath the weird man's coat and to be thruster towards Koi. They had mistaken the confused Van for Koi, because they didn't know, because not even Van knew of his true identity. Though they hit Van. Van had jumped in front of his dear seventeen year old friend and had received a knife to the stomach, plunging in deep before being wrenched out. It would be one of the worst things Van had ever felt - knowing that something had hurt you badly, but being unable to figure out just how badly the pain had been. Ambulance. Van had been supposed to go to the hospital, but a limping boy had come - for the man had escaped, knowing that he would have 'killed' the son of Hades - and told them that Van could not go. Of course, Van, half out of it, had barely even listened, hyperventilating and suddenly in a cold sweat as he saw his own blood and came to the conclusion that he was going to die. As someone - who? He didn't know, and so no one would know - lifted his head and fed him some sort of something, Koi had said that Van was now not just Van, but Van Hayne, a son of... a son of who...? Van Hayne woke up in a new camp a couple of days later, eyes heavy with sleep and a stomach that was either growling with pain or hunger. Only fifteen, he found the concept of gods unbelievable, especially for he had been in the Hermes cabin, where people do obviously pick-pocketed his stuff. At least until he had been claimed by Hades, the god of the living dead, a couple weeks into his stay. rp sample: I already filled this out:D but hmm...
