[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px;] heather elizabeth kingston fifteen . female . heterosexual . demigod child of triton, god of the sea appearance: There is nothing really extravagant about Heather's appearance. She's average, blending in with everyone else. Just another pretty little face in the crowd. However, what you will notice about her right off the bat is how small she if for her age. Her naturally thin build combined with her shorter than average height makes her seem tiny - almost child-like. She's much shorter than most, standing at only five foot one inch. She's used to it thought, and it's actually something she likes about herself. Heather's whole body is very slender and willowy, so she is often mistaken as a weakling. However, after years of swimming and training and camp, she's much stronger than one might think. Long, blonde hair cascades down Heather's shoulders. Naturally, it's straight, but she finds herself spending so much time outside in the wind and water that it ends up in wild waves comparable to the ocean and in tangles around her shoulders. She looks like she could be a Nereid come out of the ocean half the time. Although she doesn't spend the time to make it perfect like those children of aphrodite, she does take the time to brush it everything night before bed so it doesn't become unbearable. It would just be heinous to have to brush it out every hour of the day since she spends so much time underwater. It does have it's beautiful aspects too though. When light hits her hair, it just makes her glow. The sun rays glint off her hair, turning it a brilliant golden hue and creating a glow around her pale face. It's strange for a person like Heather, who spends so much time outside, to have such pale skin. She does though, perhaps because of all the time she spends underwater, and the sunlight on her hair adds some colour to her skin, causing it to look more tanned that it actually is. Heather's got beautiful eyes once you take the time to look at them. They can be blue and green and grey all at once. They're her best feature, well at least, she considers them to be. When you look into her eyes, it's like looking into water. The colour of her eyes are constantly shifting depending on the lighting. At times they can appear brilliantly green and at others look as if all the colour has been drained from them. They're constantly changing, just like the ocean. face claim: annasophia robb personality: Heather’s the kind of person who blends in with everyone else – she’s almost invisible. People have seen her around, and her face is familiar, but they can’t seem to place her name. She’s just the girl who was there. Simply there, a presence, and nothing else. Heather’s a shy kid, and she’s never been completely comfortable with herself around other people. There are really only a few select friends and family members that she just honestly acts like herself. With other people, she watches what she says more and how she acts. It’s almost as if she’s afraid they’ll hate her for making one tiny mistake. She’s nice and friendly when she meets people, but can come off as quiet and rather distant, taking her a while to really warm up to people. However, even then she’s quiet. Truly, she doesn’t mind that most people wouldn’t even know her. She’s happy with whom she is, and many times she prefers spending her time away from large crowds of people anyways, but the one thing that really gets her annoyed it when people tell her she’s quiet. Yes, she knows that thank you very much, why do you need to tell her about herself? A lot of the time she stays quiet about it though and nods awkwardly, not knowing how to reply to a comment like that. Beneath or quiet hesitant exterior, Heather is very different in some ways and very not in other ways. Even when she’s with her friends, she still doesn’t let herself go completely. She’s really not willing to make a fool of herself – she hates looking stupid – but not much angers her easily. She’s definitely more relaxed, and she’ll talk a bit more, but mostly she just laughs, nods, and tries to be a good friend. That’s something about Heather. Although she doesn’t speak much, it’s very easy to make her laugh or smile. She’s pretty easy going, and not much makes her mad. However, when she does get angry, it’s usually for a good reason. She hates being yelled at and blamed for things and she hates seeing that done to other people as well. Those are probably the only instances when she’ll get mad at anyone. Although she’s usually extremely quiet, and you wouldn’t expect her to be the kind of person to yell, she can be loud when she wants to be, in order to get your attention. Holding grudges is really not something she can do though. No matter how hard she tries, she just can’t seem to stay mad at anyone. She forgives much too easily, even when she knows she shouldn’t. It has to do with the fact that she likes to try to see the good in people. Heather is constantly thinking about what she would do if she was in someone else’s shoes. She tries to see things from their perspective and figure out their motives. She realizes that there are a lot of parts of themselves that people hide from the world. She hates how people judge others based on one glance or one meeting because she knows that people are so much more than that. Each person has hopes, dreams, strengths, weaknesses, sadness, etc. despite how much they try to hide it. That’s not saying that she can’t be accused of judging people. Heather, just like everyone else just can’t help it sometimes, but it’s something that she tries her best not to do. She thinks that it just doesn’t do that person justice. Two very important things to know about Heather is that she’s a dreamer and that her greatest fear is the future. She lives in her head in a way, and, for her, the future is hard to imagine. It seems like some far off mirage, and she doesn’t realize how close it is until it’s so close that she has can’t do anything but face it. She likes living in her head though. In her mind, she can fantasize whatever she wants. She’s in control of what’s happening. She could fly in her dreams if she wanted, but back in reality, she’s just stuck on the ground. Inside her head, it’s safe. Nothing can touch her. And that’s why she’s so afraid of the future. She doesn’t know what it will hold. She has no control over what life will throw at her. And honestly, she’s not much of a planner and she procrastinates much more than is good for anyone. It’s not that she hasn’t tried to be more organized, but things never seem to follow her plans because her focus isn’t all that great. It’s partially due to ADHD, but she’s also just naturally like that. She doesn’t like following her plans, and can never stick to them. There are too many choices in life for her to be stuck to just one thing. That's another thing that's she's afraid. She's afraid that she won't get to experience everything she wants to in life before her time's done. She has no fear of death, but rather all of the unfinished things she'd leave behind. She wants to live her life to the fullest although her shyness often holds her back. Another thing about the future is that she simply doesn’t like growing up. She wishes she could have stayed a child, and been kept naïve and innocent rather than learning about all the sad, harsh facts about life. She misses when times were simpler and she had no worries or cares in the world. Heather likes to think things through before doing them. She doesn’t like doing things that she’ll regret. On her list of things she doesn’t like feeling, after guilt comes regret. She simply hates those two feelings. Heather often thinks way too much which makes her bad at decision making. When you rush her, she will usually pick the worst option possible. She doesn’t work well under pressure. Like anyone, Heather has knee-jerk reactions. Sometimes things just happen. During those times, she can’t stop what she says or does. Sometimes it’s something she regrets, sometimes not. A lot of the time, Heather dislikes telling people how she feels or even really showing people how she really feels. It's just something she does. It almost makes her feel weak to tell people her problems, so she keeps them to herself, bottling them up away from prying eyes and ears. And she's fine like that. Sometimes she'll go whisper a secret to a sea horse or a nearby dolphin, but hardly ever to humans. It's too personal, makes her feel to close to people, and the closer people are, the easier it is for them to get to you and hurt you. She'll even bottle up good feelings too, or at least partially so that she'll come off as happy but not the truly ecstatic feeling she's feeling. Sometimes though, it gets to be too much, and she feels like she's going to burst. During those times, she is constantly questioning herself and arguing with herself - well more than usual - and in the end, all those things pent up inside her come out - usually in the form of tears because really she'd rather cry than get mad at everyone else without reason. She hates seeing people sad. It makes her feel like she has to make them happy again. So on the outside, Heather's really just that quiet girl who you see and you don't really know. She doesn't seem like anything that special, and she's keeps to herself, but inside, she's bottling up all her feelings from the rest of the world. likes: swimming, the ocean, shells, sea glass, her necklaces, anything to do with water, sunsets, beaches, crab, peanut butter, animals, friends, being happy, reading, drawing, art, staying up later, music, penguins, long walks, clouds, quiet, snow, music, waterfalls, french horn, lightning, rain, thunderstorms, crystals, the sky, the colour blue, quotes, the moon, lunar eclipses dislikes: show offs, pollution, when people think her father is triton from the little mermaid, school, change, cleaning, spiders, the morning, being ordered around, mosquito, not having anything to do, large crowds, loud noises, being forgotten and ignored, being extremely hot or cold strengths: swimming, her powers, loyalty, weaknesses: shyness, public speaking, unsure of herself, would do anything for those she loves fears: spiders, drowning, the unknown, the future, the death of her loved ones fatal flaw: Heather’s fatal flaw is her lack of self confidence. It is inlaid with bits of silver, coral and shells at places. Although it may look too pretty to be a real threat, the points can pierce through almost anything, and Heather's pretty skilled at using it. Hides as a coiled ring that, when thrown into the air, transforms into a trident. magical items: another necklace from her father. The pendant is a miniature conch shell. In battle, it blows up to a full sized shell and when she blows the shell it enhances her power over the water. hometown: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada parent: lillian johnson (nee kingston) - mother sibling(s): connor johnson - half-brother other: brian johnson - step-father pet(s): Mac - german shepherd history: Lillian Kingston had always been fascinated by the sea. In her eyes, it is magic and mystery all mixed in one. She grew up by the ocean in Vancouver, British Columbia, and there has not been a day in her life that she hasn't walked along the beach. With her house only a few mere feet from the beach, Lillian would spend every second she could by the ocean. She would run on the beach, splash around in the water, and walk along the pier. But there was one day when she walked along the pier and stepped to close to the edge as she peered into the depths below, being the curious seven year old she was, and before she knew it, she was tumbling into the salty sea. She thrashed in the freezing water as air bubbles leapt from her mouth, but it was no use. She wasn't strong enough to swim against the strong current she had been dragged into. Slowly, her arms and legs stopped fighting, and just as her eyes were about to flutter closed, Triton came, taking pity on her. He pulled her to an isolated part of the beach, made sure she was okay, and then swam back into the ocean. After that though, he kept an eye on her. He wasn't sure what made him do it, but he always seemed to end up swimming up to the coast of Canada every so often just to see if she was doing alright. Lillian woke up later that day feeling much better than she would've if a god had not just saved her. She returned home with no complications from nearly drowning, and in later years when she looked back onto it, she simply ruled it off as a dream. She simply forgot about the memory until years later. She had moved out of her childhood home to Victoria, BC. She'd met a guy named Ryan, and they had really hit it off. She was happy. She was living her life.It was a beautiful summer day that she met Triton. It was an accident. Triton had come to check in to find that Lillian was all grown up. He wasn't being as careful as she shouldn't been, and as Lillian gazed over the water, she locked eyes with him. From there they began talking, becoming closer as she came to visit him everyday. There was no hiding what he was for she could clearly see his tail, so she knew from the start. Eventually it just became to hard though. She found herself feeling torn between Triton and Ryan, but finally she realized that she couldn't spend her life waiting on a god. She couldn't let him use his powers to fix everything for her, and she couldn't take him away from his duties. However, Heather had already been conceived. When Brian found out, he was furious, leaving Lillian to raise Heather on her own. As much as she wanted to just break down and cry, she knew that she had to care for Heather. Heather grew up by the ocean with a love and fascination by the it just like her mother. She spent hours on the beach throughout her childhood. She probably spent more time there than anywhere else, even in her own house. If it hadn't been for school, she would have been there from sunrise to sunset. She just felt this pull from the sea, like she couldn't stay away. Although a child of a minor god, strange things happened to her as a child. There were menacing babysitters and the larger than average "puppy" that seemed to think Heather smelled a little too good among various other monsters. Somehow, her mother managed to keep her safe, coming away from these experiences with only a few cuts and scrapes. When Heather was young, she used to think that all of these things were normal, but as she grew up and saw other families together, she realized that her life was not as mundane as she had once thought. When she was ten, Heather, upset by an encounter with a monster, had run into a spare room in their house filled with boxes filled with all of their old things. As she hid in the corner, tears streaming down her cheeks, she noticed an envelope sticking out from behind a box. In her curiosity, she crawled over and pushed the box out of the way. The letter was addressed to her mother. Heather knew it was wrong to snoop, but she just couldn't help herself. She opened the letter, being careful not to crumple any corners in case it would cause her mom to become suspicious. She hadn't really expected it to be anything important, so what she read came as a harsh blow. The letter was from Triton, explaining that Heather was a demigod and that meant she and her mother would always be in danger so long as she remained in the mortal world. He told Lillian of camp half-blood, telling her to send Heather there as soon as the monsters started getting bad. Upon reading that, Heather had dropped the letter, ran to her room and packed her things, pocketing some money as well. She had always known that their life wasn't normal, but she had never thought she was burden on her mother. Heather couldn't bear to put her mother in danger when it was her fault. She copied down the address and left home. Of course she didn't get very far on her own. She ended up running into a monster at the bus stop a few blocks away from her house. She ran to the safest place she knew - the sea. She ran right into the ocean out of instinct, hoping the monster wouldn't follow her into the water. She was extremely surprised when she came face to face with a man with a fish's tail for the bottom half of his body. He beckoned her towards him, and with out really even thinking - which is strange for Heather - she dove under the water and swam down into the sea to his level. "Let go of the air child, you can breath underwater," he told her calmly. For a moment Heather fought it, trying to keep hold of the air that would keep her alive, but when she could hold it not longer, air rushed from her lungs. They didn't fill with water though. She was perfectly fine. She could breath underwater. Triton laughed at her amazement, and began to explain everything to her. She took it well, knowing almost everything from the letter already. Her father agreed to help her get to camp, sending a letter to her mother so she wouldn't worry and called for a satyr to help her. Before she left, he gave her the conch shell necklace she has now. Together, they travelled across the country, running into a few monsters here and there, but not too many, and they made it safely. There Heather was told she was to learn to monsters. She never really took to it though, preferring to spend time drawing or by the ocean. She enjoys camp though. It feels safe in secure. Like everyone else at camp, she wonders what it would be like to go outside camp borders though. Two years after leaving home, Heather went back to visit her mother. When she returned she found her mother happily married with a one year old son. At first, she was shocked, feeling like she had been what had been holding her mother back all of the years she had stayed. She still feels that way now, but she's come to accept her mother's new family and she loves them like they were her flesh and blood. Usually, she lives at camp year round though, leaving her mother to start her life afresh. rp sample: warm weather was so nice. Heather smile brightly as a gentle breeze caressed her face, blowing back her hair. Spring was here, and the forest was once again coming alive. The beginnings of leaves peaked out from buds that sat upon not-quite-so-bare-anymore tree branches, ready to burst open at just the right moment. The girl brought up a hand, and gently skimmed the rough, cracked bark of a large tree as she walked along beside the stream that ran through the forest. She was dressed simply in her bright orange camp half-blood t-shirt and a pair of jeans. On her feet were a pair of sneakers, worn with use. She carried no weapon - strange for a demigod. Since coming to camp, Heather hadn't taken well to weapons. The only thing she had excelled at learning was manipulating the water. Now, she always had a canteen of water slung over her shoulder, ready to use at any moment. There was no particular reason for Heather being out here. She wasn't here to fight some monsters. It was far from that. Sometimes she just needed to get away from things. She often wondered what it would be like to just isolate herself from the rest of the world and live alone with herself and maybe an animal companion. Heather had always liked animals, and she'd never really been a social person. All the hustle and bustle about camp was sometimes too much to take in all at once. Her art was one escape, a nice walk was another. Finally, the girl stopped. In front of her was a fallen tree that arched over the stream like a bridge. It was covered with moss and lichen. Heather cocked her head to the side with a small lopsided smile spread across her face. She made her way towards it and stepped out onto it, bouncing herself up and down to test the weight on the tree trunk. It looked solid and it felt solid, so she walked out across it, careful to keep her balance, and then settled down right above the middle of the river. Swinging her lets back and forth, Heather smiled, watching as the water bubbled by. With another grin, she reached out a hand and made an upward motion, focusing on the water. It obeyed and came floating up to eye level. She separated the blob, creating one perfectly round sphere while letting the rest of the water drop. It splashed back into the stream, but Heather was focused on her bubble of water. With her finger pointed at the ball, she moved it to and fro, bouncing it up and down. She loved playing with water like this. After a few moments, Heather let it drop, but then immediately drew up more water. She brought up much more than the last time. The blob was about as big as one of the cabins. It never rained naturally here in Camp Half-Blood, so Heather sometimes liked to make a little of her own rain. With all her strength, she threw the water upwards into the sky. "Up, up and way," she thought with a giggle. Who knew how far up the water went, all Heather knew was that, eventually, it would come down and the effect would be somewhat similar to rain. It only took about a minute longer before drops of water began to fall. "Rain," Heather murmured, holding her palms up for the water to splatter down on. It wasn't as good as the real thing, but it was good enough and Heather had always wanted it to rain while the sun was still shining. heather . none at the moment . 4 yearsish . grover underwood |
