[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 375px;] the new hero handguide--- EVERYTHING A HERO HAS TO KNOW! alright, so you're new and you're a bit confused by all the events that are happening here, well here's a quick run down for you information. it's not completely detailed with rules and all because during the time of the actual event is when they'll be posted. capture the flag- when? every two months
- length? ten days
sign up and teams? a capture the flag announcement will be posted each time capture the flag will be occurring. you can sign up with as many characters as you wish, but please try and keep them all active. teams will be chosen after sign ups to ensure that the teams are fair. the cabin within the teams with the most members signed up will be in charge of each team. (for example: the blue team is made up of the hermes, dionysus, zeus and poseidon cabins. the hermes cabin has 5 people, dionysus 2, zeus 1, and poseidon 4. the leader of the blue team would therefore be the hermes cabin because they have the most people.)
- how it works? when capture the flag is announced, the capture the flag boards will the opened in the forest for you guys to post in. during this time "flag/banners" will be hidden around the site in various boards or threads. once clicked, these banners will lead you to a link to an image of an item/weapon that it worth a certain amount of points that will be added to your team's total. bonuses may also be bought at the store. at the end of the ten days, the boards will be locked again.
- the winner? the winner is decided based on the number of replies from each team as well as the points found from banners and from the store.
chariot races- when? every two months (opposite the times of capture the flag)
- length? until all teams have posted
sign up and teams? you must have two team members - no more, no less - so there is one person driving and the other defends the chariot. the team members do not have to be in the same cabin.
- how it works? the first posts by each member of the teams will describe their chariot and its functions – there can be a maximum of three extra functions (to make things fair). once these have all been posted, a staff member will post an obstacle that the campers must get around. during this time, bonuses of extra add-ons to the chariots can be found around the site like in capture the flag. bonuses can also be bought from the store.
- the winner? the winner will be decided by 1. the creativity, realism (well realistic to the books – no teleporting chariots), how durable and sturdy we believe their chariot would be, and how well we think it will stand up to the obstacle based on their first description, and 2. how well the chariot faired against the obstacle, the quality of the posts, but also taking into account the descriptions of the chariots to decide a realistic winner. bonuses will also be taken into account.
quests- when? every two-four weeks a quest will be posted (unless we still have three going at once)
- length? until it has finished being played out
sign up and teams? each time we post a new quest, you will be able to sign up with your character. you can sign up with as many as you want, but only one character will be chosen. who is chosen to go on the quest is completely random - we will literally be pulling names out of a hat. if you want a higher chance of being chosen ,you can buy the bonus from the store. once you are chosen, you can either choose two people to go with you, or you can ask us to choose them. only three people per quest unless otherwise specified. however, you will not be chosen if you have already been picked for a quest recently. everyone needs a chance!
- how it works? every two weeks, a new quest will be posted with a different goal in mind for you to sign up for. after that, a more detailed plot of your quest will be pmed to you and you may begin your questing! your quests must be done being rped within one month otherwise it will be archived. this is to ensure we do not have too many quests going on at once.
prizes- so what's the point of all these events? well for fun of course! but not to mention that your cabin also win's prizes!! for winning different events, each cabin wins both prizes and points. For each event a person/cabin wins, they will be given a prize (e.g. if Bob and George from the Ares cabin win the chariot races they get a “trophy” that will be placed in their cabin sub-board.). This goes for capture the flag and quests as well, so in each cabin sub-board there is kind of a “trophy cabinet” so to speak where all the prizes that the people from the cabin and the cabin have won. they will also be awarded points that are added to their cabin's total. and after three months, whoever has the most points get recognition in the side bar. when a cabin wins, each member of that cabin will get extra drachmas to spend in the store and maybe another surprise.
counsellors- these are the characters in charge of their cabin. they are usually either the oldest or most experienced camper. although most of the time they are list regular campers, during certain plots/events, they organize and lead their cabin. also, for capture the flag, they plan and make the battle strategy. cabin leaders can be challenged. if you wish to challenge a cabin leader, please pm an admin first and we'll give you the okay. the current counsellor and the challenger then must rp it out and an admin will decide the winner.
